A new day Nursery, offering places for children aged 12 weeks to five years, is set to open in the Hyde building in Chipping Barnet in June.
The iconic building, which was gifted to the people of Barnet by Julia Hyde in 1888, to serve as a public library and reading rooms, will be repurposed to become a 100-place Nursery for families and commuters to Barnet.
The building has most recently been used as an art and design studio by Barnet and Southgate College.
Following renovations, which aim to modernise the space while maintaining many of the original features, the new Nursery will offer a garden room with free-flow access to secure outdoor spaces, bespoke sensory areas and an atelier.
The Nursery, which is being opened by the CC Nurseries Group, is the tenth setting within the group’s portfolio, and follows the successful opening of sister sites including Marston Day Nursery in Bedfordshire in August 2020, and Wendover Day Nursery in Aylesbury in 2021.
Chief Operating Officer and Head of Nurseries for CC Nurseries, Andrew Clifford said: “We are thrilled to be able to bring our fantastic Early Years provision to Barnet.
“To have the heritage of the Hyde Building as the backdrop to the early childhood experiences we’re able to provide is a fantastic opportunity, not just for our children and families, but our fantastic teams too.
“We look forward to breathing new life into this historical building and bring learning and life back to its heart.”
